Computers are used to store and watch videos in sports.As there is a great need of videos in sports,because players watch other players playing styles from different angles to learn them through videos or they want to watch their own past performances in order remove drawbacks from them or thay can watch live matches etc.So computers are very helpful in watching and storing videos.We can store all videos in one place rather than storing them in different cassettes.

Statistical data is very important for sports.Team players,Coaches,Public all want to know the past performance of team players.So computers can be used to record statistical data in different attractive ways.

Safety is an important aspect in professional sports today. News stories are often released about the study of concussions on football and hockey athletes. To help minimize those injuries equipment developers have used computers to develop safer equipment. For example, helmet company Riddell designed a new football helmet for the National Football League during the 2010 season after a number of players were injured by concussions. They used a variety of technological programs to design a helmet that would be able to absorb the constant impact and limit damage to the head and neck area. The same type of research is being done for such sports as hockey and auto racing to better improve the safety of the athletes.

Since the beginning of the 21st century, new technology has been developed by which scouts use computers to put in scouting information easily and speed up the process of evaluating players. One technology used in basketball is Pocket Hoops. It allows scouts to input where a player took a shot and whether he made the shot on his Pocket PC. The Los Angeles Lakers of the NBA were the first to use this method of scouting in 2001.

COMPUTERS AND SPORTS TRAINING

Computers help gauge an athlete's performance during a specific training regimen. Trainers for sports teams can put a player's height, weight and body model into a computer and develop a training program that best fits her needs. Trainers can also put sensors and equipment onto a player during training, allowing the computer to register results while the player trains.

USES OF COMPUTER IN AGRICULTURE

Computer's arrival in the world of farming helps with a number of ways surprise us.Following are different ways how computers are useful in agriculture :-

With regard to livestock farming, ready-made computer applications are available to track individual animals, storing and evaluating information such as age, health records, milk production, offspring productivity, and reproductive cycle status. This is often called herd recording.

Through internet forums,social networking sites and online knowledge bases farmers get lot of information.With these they contact with other farmers and experts and exchange know-how.There are many online databases,articles,newspapers in which there is lot of information available for farmers which help them in increasing productivity.

Computers are very useful in transportation today.It is useful in both land and air transportation.Following are the main uses of computers:-

One important use of computer in transportation is Global Positing System , or GPS.These feature a screen that shows a map which track your vehicle's movement through satellites signals. These pinpoint your location between 100 feet.Noe some mobiles have also this system.

Positive Train Control by Federal Railroad Administration is the computer system that tracks the movement of trains on various railways around the country.PTC technology is capable of preventing train to train collisions ,derailments caused by excessive speed and the associated death or injuries.

Mapping system  through computers is very useful now .We can find the route of any location where we want to go through this.We input our address and destination address then computer will give us visual map,distance ,total driving time,traffic jams etc.

 

ONLINE BOOKING

We can book our tickets of bus,train,airplanes online.Which saves our time.Websites give us all information regarding tickets in few seconds.

 

WEATHER FORECAST

We can get weather forecast information through computers which is very useful for transportation especially air transportation. We can travel according to the weather forecast given by computers.

Uses of computer in Health and Medicine

The use of computer technology has greatly enhanced the medical field. Many computer applications, such as patient information system, monitoring and control systems, diagnostic systems have been used to enhance healthcare.

 1. Patient information system :

 It allows doctors at different locations to access permanent patient record  from a centralised database. This type of computer application enables doctors to easily find and send notices to patients who need treatment or medication. It also allows doctors to compare methods of treating illness.

2. Monitoring and Control system : This system help doctors treat patients by providing 24 hour service and by this reduce the level of false alarms.

For example, some surgery patients must continuously be monitored in the ICU , these patients are fitted with censors connected to the system which record vital signs. If a patient's heart beat was to go below or above the programmed range an alarm is sounded. Since the information from these systems can be recorded  so it allows doctors to analyse the patient's process at any later date.

3. Diagnosis system :

It is used to provide technical support to the medical staff during diagnosis and prescribing treatment. In the absence of doctor, it allows for the identification and possible treatment of life threatening symptoms.

    Today computers are very useful for communication purpose.We use computers for communication through email,websites,blogs,social networking video chat and voice over internet protocols.Following are the different ways how can we use computers for communication :-

With the help of internet we can send messages to anyone sitting  anywhere in the world.Rather than waiting days or weeks to see information ,we can now view all the information at the speed of light.Computer can process data at approximately 20 million bytes per second so it is easy to download and display any text email.

INSTANT MESSAGING
Instant messaging is the process of process of sending real time messages from one user to another.Generally IM is the ability to see whether someone in your private list is online and connected through selected device.It is different from email in a way that through IM we can immediately exchange the message rather than sending email back and fourth.We can do instant messaging through MSN messenger ,yahoo messenger etc.

SOCIAL NETWORKING
Social networking allows members to reconnect with old friends,make new friends and come together with persons of similar interests.A user creates a profile and others can view it.The examples of social networking are facebook, Twitter etc.

FORUMS
A forum is a part of a website that allows for group discussion.Members have a ability to start a discussion and read and reply to other discussion.

BLOG
A blog is an online journal or dairy of an individual.Typically written by one person blogs can we use to give information regarding anything,to promote anything,to give tutorials etc.

AUDIO CONFERENCING
Audio conferencing is a connection between two computers that requires participants to have microphones and speakers.In it the user speaks through the microphone and the other person person is able to hear him.It can be done through skype, AOl etc.

Voice over internet protocol is phone service through an internet connection.Users are given an adapter and unique phone number .The users can then send and receive phone calls using a computer,a VoIP phone or a traditional phone,to and from other people ,whether or not they use VoIP themselves.

Dating sites are websites typically dedicated to matching singles with other singles.Often for a fee members can create a profile which can be viewed by others and they can come in contact with other singles.

CHAT ROOM
A chat room is an area where area on the internet where groups of people come together to communicate.A user types a message that is seen by all other users currently online in the same room.Users can see the list of all other users online.
